DBKL rejected the performance permit application of Singaporean Kuo Pao Kun’s play on Opening Night itself. The performance was held as an ‘open rehearsal’ in the rehearsal space as a way to circumvent the ban. In 2001, ‘The Coffin is Too Big for the Hole ‘ was staged in KL without incident.
