Hindu Sangam, an NGO, objected to the production’s use of the Ramayana as its source material. The Ministry of Culture Arts and Tourism fully supported the presenting company, Five Arts Centre, and the production went ahead. On the final day of the run, the producer received a call saying a bomb was planted in the venue. The cast and audience were evacuated and the space searched.
