Ernest Zacharevic’s mural of two lego figures riding a bicycle, painted on the side of a pre-war shop house was removed by the Johor Baru City Council following complaints by the building owner that the artist had not obtained his permission to paint on his property. The Council said that the artist did not have the necessary permits from the Council to paint the work either. Earlier, the Council had also painted over another Zacharevic mural, featuring a knife-wielding LEGO figure, waiting on other LEGO figure carrying a “Chanel” handbag. The LEGO Theme Park is located in Johor; the state capital, Johor Bahru has a reputation for being crime prone.
