Malaysian artist Vincent Leong’s series of four portraits, exhibited at Art Stage Singapore, were in the style of official portraits found in Malaysian government buildings. However, the images featured the backs, instead of the faces, of what appeared to be the PM, Agong and Raja Permaisuri, and was criticized by several NGOs, including Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA). The work was accused of being insulting to the institution of royalty.
