Dance producer Bilqis Hijjas was charged with ‘insulting behaviour’ when she released yellow balloons with the words ‘democracy’, ‘free media’ and ‘justice’ during the opening ceremony of the DiverseCity International Arts Festival, attended by Prime Minister Najib Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah. She was acquitted of all charges on 27 Nov 2017.
