One of the anguish of the contemporary intellectual is “How shall we live” and “How shall we die”. The anguish likes the swing of the pendulum in their heart, and the death comes when the pendulum suddenly stop to swing. The author of “Rashomon” is Ryunosuke Akutagawa, most of his works can be categorized as autobiography. He said “I’m the dagger to a stab wound”. Sometimes body is a container full of lust. The lust may take the form of the death of oneself or others. His short story “Yabu no Naka” depicts a kind of suspended situation; an anxious atmosphere is produced over the whole novel. Things not happened is involved in things already happened.
