Amok (2018)

Synopsis

One night in March 1912, on the deck of a ship dashing towards Europe. While other passengers laugh, have fun and dance, a man shies away. He bears a secret that has become too heavy for him and will unburden himself from it in the dark. This young doctor is running away from Malaysia where he has worked for five years, in the middle of the jungle, until a mysterious woman came to ask for help …

A feverish tale of a race against death where passion mingles with madness, where the obsession over a woman is similar to the amok, this sudden fit of murderous rampage.

The French Festival 2018 presents -exclusively in Malaysia- this play adapted from Stefan Zweig’s short story; Alexis Moncorgé’s brilliant interpretation earned him the Molière (French national theatre award) 2016 for Best Male Newcomer.
