The film sparked controversy over its depiction of the Riots of 1969, in particular a photo posted on its FB page that appeared to depict veteran opposition leader, Lim Kit Siang being arrested allegedly for urinating on a flag pole at the Chief Minister of Selangor’s home in ’69. The director received death threats and the Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng (son of Lim Kit Siang), suggested that his state would ban screenings of the film. The film was released for screening shortly after, without any untoward incidents reported.
