The artist was &#8220;given several options: submit another (presumably less provocative) painting, cover the \u201coffending area,\u201d or stand by his work and be willing to face the consequences. The flummoxed artist replied that he would stand by what he had painted.&#8221; An image of the work remained in the catalogue.
